The loss of a loved one renders one anxious and vulnerable.  The impact of a death on a child's life is too often unrecognized by those around them because children usually do not show the expected signs of bereavement as seen in adults.  Yet, children when asked will frequently admit feeling upset and fearful when there's been a death, but say nothing because the implicit message from most adults around them is not to talk about it.

TRAINING AND SUPERVISION

TGP has developed an effective bereavement training program.  Clinicians will learn about theory, developmental considerations and how to conduct a structured 12-week treatment intervention.  Groups are supervised (weekly) and co-led by a trained TGP clinician.

OUR MISSION

TGP seeks to promote and make available no-fee clinical bereavement services to a wide variety of population and settings, which include schools, and community based programs.  TGP also provides training and supervision to clinicians and interested lay persons.

The Grief Project(TGP) is a short-term (weekly) group bereavement intervention for youth who have experienced the death of a parent or significant person.

BEREAVEMENT GROUPS

Being in a group provides a forum where children and adolescents learn to identify and manage feelings associated with grief.  Group treatment normalizes their experience of loss, provides support for the members, and secures their feelings of safety.
